Optician

Experienced Optician

No Evenings | No Weekends | Early Close on Fridays

We are seeking an experienced and professional Optician to join our team. This role combines optical sales, insurance verification, front desk coordination, and patient support within a fast-paced optometric practice. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering exceptional patient care.

This position offers an excellent work-life balance with no evening or weekend hours and an early closing time on Fridays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer phones and schedule patient appointments

  • Verify and qualify vision and medical insurance benefits

  • Check in patients and manage front desk flow

  • Assist patients in selecting and fitting eyewear based on prescription and lifestyle needs

  • Accurately measure patients’ eyes and facial features to ensure proper frame and lens fit

  • Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and frame styles

  • Adjust and repair eyewear to ensure comfort and satisfaction

  • Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, orders, and payments

  • Submit and follow up on vision insurance claims

  • Access and explain patients’ vision plan benefits clearly and confidently

  • Collaborate with optometrists to support comprehensive patient care

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as an optician or in a similar optical role is required

  • Strong knowledge of lenses, frames, and contact lenses

  • Experience with vision insurance verification, claims submission, and billing systems

  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build rapport and trust

  • Proficiency with lens cutting and edging equipment

  • Retail sales experience preferred

  • Working knowledge of medical terminology related to eye care

  • Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and sterile work environment

  • Experience working with senior patients is a plus
